Jorge Alves and Celso Pereira, started a project in 1998 to select the best "terroirs "for the production of superior wines in the Douro Demarcated Region. In 1999 the Quanta Terra Society was established and Quinta do Tralhão, in the Upper Douro, was chosen as the place to produce its wines.
